GOD desires human participation in establishing HIS Kingdom on earth to display HIS glory, cultivate righteousness and spread HIS saving love-ultimately transforming people and the world into a reflection of HIS character. Kingdom thinking means that we carry out the agenda of GOD wherever we are planted.
The priesthood that was endowed to Adam has been passed on to future generations, and we claim our priesthood through Jesus.
Jesus is the second Adam. Jesus is a priest forever. He is the high priest and in him and through him we are to exercise our roles as kingdom priests-ministering to GOD, to creation and to man.
If Jesus is the prophetical fulfillment of both royal and messianic prophecies from the Old Testament-sacrificed by GOD for our redemption, then we are called to be a witness-spreading his message and creating disciples.
The term disciple is used a total of twenty-six times in the book of Acts to describe people in the early church. The people who comprised the early church became disciples when they heard the gospel message. A disciple can be simply understood as a pupil who commits to follow and continually learn from someone they consider authoritative. In the New Testament church, that authoritative person was Jesus and he used the original apostles to convey the truth about his teachings and commands to those who became his followers.
If GOD is LIGHT and if we were made in HIS image, then we were created to be a CARRIER of that same light. We are called in our daily lives-to further GOD’s agenda. We are to help establish a kingdom of priests where all members act as conduits of HIS holiness to the world. We are to: minister; share the gospel; make disciples; baptize believers; preach repentance; heal the sick; cast out demons; love one another as he loved us; and have fellowship with one another.
“And they sang a new song, saying “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on earth.“ Revelation 5:9-10
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
